Riyadh: Bandar Alkhorayef, the Saudi minister of industry and mineral resources, and Grant Shapps, the UK secretary of state for business, energy, and industrial strategy, both believe that immediate international cooperation is necessary to combat climate change and achieve net-zero emissions.

In a panel discussion titled "Lands of Opportunity: Enabling Mineral Development in Africa, Western, and Central Asia," they both participated on Tuesday, the first day of the three-day Future Minerals Conference in Riyadh, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Alkhorayef claimed that the developing mining sector in those areas needs to develop quickly to keep up with the demand for minerals on a global scale. He emphasised the part the Kingdom has played in establishing dependable mining networks in Asia and Africa and added that the only way to achieve the global goals relating to the switch to clean energy is through concerted international efforts.
