Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia will conduct Hajj in 2020, even in times of Corona epidemic. But this time only people living in Saudi Arabia will be able to perform Hajj. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs of the Saudi Arabian government issued a statement on Monday, informing that due to Coronavirus infection this time only limited Hajis will be allowed to perform Hajj.

This statement said that in view of the Corona infection this year, Hajis coming from other countries will not be allowed. According to officials, this decision has been taken only due to the provisions of social distancing. The statement said that other protective provisions will also be adopted to prevent the spread of corona infection among people. Islamic calendars change according to the moon, but Hajj is in the time of Bakrid. This time Hajj is being organized in the first week of August.

There are five basic pillars of Islam, the last of which is considered to be Haj. Physically healthy and economically affluent Muslims intend to perform Haj at least once in life. This is the reason that every year more than 20 lakh Muslims reach Mecca for Haj. However this year Muslims from other countries will not be able to go to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj. However, in view of the Corona crisis, there was speculation about the postponement of Haj pilgrimage this year. In April, Haj Affairs Minister Mohammad Saleh Banten said that Saudi Arabia is concerned about the safety of Hajis and has urged people not to show any haste on their booking.
