Islamabad: One one hand the Pakistan government is under fire for harbouring terrorist organisations such as the Jaish-e-Mohammed that has been incessantly carrying out terror attacks in India, the latest being the ghastly bomb blast in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama that killed 40 Central Police Force jawans on Thursday, while on the other hand Saudi Arabia has been showering gifts on Pakistani top officials ahead of the Saudi prince’s visit to Islamabad.

Here it is to be noted that Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman was supposed to visit Pakistan on Saturday but later announced that his trip would be delayed by a day. But that didn't stop Pakistani officials from accepting expensive gifts from the Saudi monarch amounting to 6.35 million Pakistani rupees.

According to a Dawn report, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi received the expensive gifts from Saudi during Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to the Arab country in September last year. The gifts included a Rolex watch worth 4.85 million Pakistani rupees, a gold pen studded with gems (950000 Pakistani rupees), gold cufflinks (135000 Pakistani rupees), a rosary (205000 Pakistani rupees) and a gold ring (210000 Pakistani rupees).

However, Qureshi deposited all the presents with the government and as is the norm, the gifts will be auctioned on a later date. The Dawn report says that former president Asif Ali Zardari had taken gifts worth 62 million Pakistani rupees of the total 162 million Pakistani rupees that he had received in kind when he was the head of state in 2010.

Banned Pakistani terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed carried out a brutal attack killing 40 CRPF jawans on February 14 in Awantipora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The attack took place around 3:30 pm after a suicide bomber, identified as local boy Adil Ahmad Dar, in a Mahindra Scorpio car loaded with 350 kilograms of explosives rammed into a convoy of 78 vehicles carrying over 2500 CRPF personnel on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway.
