The month of Sawan is called the month of Bholenath. In this month devotees of Bhole worship and make Lord Shiva happy. As soon as the beginning of this month, the series of festivals has started once again. Two big festivals in this month include Nag Panchami and Rakshabandhan. The festival of Nag Panchami is on 25th July and this time the festival of Raksha Bandhan is going to come on the last Monday of Sawan month i.e. on 3rd August.

Today we are going to tell you why Nag Panchami is celebrated. Nag Panchmi is considered one of the major festivals of Indian culture. The serpent deity is worshiped on Nag Panchami. Milk is also fed to the serpent. During this time joyous celebrations are celebrated in homes. Eating wheat, gram, and sindai etc. on this day is considered auspicious. It is said that on this day, the person who worships the serpent should not even do the work of digging the land because it may harm him.

People also observe fast on the day of Nag Panchami. People open their fast on Panchami Tithi in the evening, after having a meal on the Chaturthi Tithi a day before this festival. Worshiping Nag Devta on the day of Nag Panchami and feeding it has great benefits.
