In the month of Sawan, Mahadev devotees visit all the Shiva Dhams all over India and offer darshan, puja, and Archana of Shivaji. Apart from Mahadev's Dwadash Jyotirlinga, there are many temples all over India where the worship of Mahadev or mere darshan removes all the defects related to life. One such holy Shivadham exists in Prayaraj, considered to be the king of pilgrimages, known as Kotitirtha. However, the temple, located in the northern part of the city, is called Shivakutty by locals.

Lord Ram created this Shiv Linga:-
Built on the banks of river Ganga, this temple of Mahadev dates back to the Ramayana period. It is customary that the iconic Shivalinga in the temple was built by Lord Shriram himself with his own hands and it is the second Shivalinga made by Lord Ram, which he built in Prayagraj after the Conquest of Lanka.

Holy story related to Shivlinga:-
The story of the construction of Koteshwar Shivlinga by Lord Shriram is very interesting. It is customary that when The Lord reached Prayagraj with Shri Ram, Mata Sita, and Lakshman, he approached Bhardwaj Muni to seek blessings and, with his permission, went ahead for Chitrakoot. Then, when he was on his way back to Ayodhya via Prayagraj after killing Ravana, he visited Bhardwaj Muni and sent his message to him willingly with his blessings. But Bhardwaj Muni refused to meet Lord Ram because he was accused of the sin of killing Brahma.
