New Delhi: Amidst the enchanting aura of the month of Sawan in 2023, devotees from all corners of the country thronged temples to fervently offer their heartfelt prayers. The third Monday of this sacred month witnessed a majestic display of devotion, with people flocking to temples to seek blessings and solace.

Delhi's Chandni Chowk witnessed a vibrant congregation of devotees at the revered Gauri-Shankar temple, where prayers were offered with deep reverence. Meanwhile, in the serene city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the majestic Mahakaleshwar temple resonated with the chants of devoted souls.

As the sun peeked over the horizon, eager devotees formed long queues, their faith unwavering, as they waited for the sacred 'Bhasma Aarti' performed by the temple priests at the crack of dawn.

The current year's Sawan holds a unique distinction, lasting not for the customary one month but extending its divine embrace for a remarkable two months. Commencing on July 4 and continuing till August 31, this extended Sawan encompasses 59 days, presenting devotees with the opportunity to experience eight sacred Mondays instead of the usual four.

In the Hindu lunar calendar, Sawan, also known as Shravan, stands as the illustrious fifth month, a time of unparalleled sanctity and devotion. This year's extraordinary two-month-long Shravan period recalls a similar phenomenon observed nearly two decades ago, nearly 19 years prior.

During this auspicious period, Lord Shiva, the benevolent deity, delights in the adoration of his ardent followers. It is firmly believed that worshipping Lord Shiva during the sacred month of Shravan brings solace and alleviates the burdens that weigh heavy on one's soul. A time of hope, renewal, and spiritual growth, this divine month offers a sanctuary for the weary hearts seeking divine intervention.

As we embrace the grandeur of this holy month, let our souls unite in fervent prayers and unwavering devotion, seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva, the embodiment of compassion and salvation. May the divine grace of Sawan uplift our spirits and illuminate our lives with peace and prosperity.
