The last day to link a PAN card to an Aadhaar card has previously been announced by the State Bank of India (SBI) to its account holders. The country's largest bank has already informed all of its clients and account holders that they must link their PAN cards to their Aadhaar card by September 30. Customers must do this, according to the bank, in order to enjoy a smooth banking experience.

If a client fails to link their PAN with their Aadhaar card by September 30, 2021, the identity card and its services would be declared inoperative/inactive, according to the SBI.

As per Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, every person who has been allotted a PAN card and also has an Aadhaar card is required to intimate their Aadhaar number to the Income Tax authorities. The Act reads, “If a person fails to intimate the Aadhaar number, the permanent account number allotted to such person shall be made inoperative after the notified date in the manner as may be provided by rules."

Here's how to link the PAN to Aadhaar card

1) Go to the income tax department’s e-filing portal on the official website.

2) Click on the Link Aadhaar section on the left.

3) Fill in your PAN number, Aadhaar number and name.

4) Fill in the CAPTCHA code given.

5) Click at the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option and your PAN-Aadhaar linking process is done. Your name, date of birth, and gender will be validated by the income Tax Department against your Aadhaar details and after this the linking will be complete successfully.
