NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court agreed Monday to expedite the hearing of a petition seeking to cancel physical examinations for Class 10 and 12 scheduled to be conducted by all state boards, CBSE, ICSE, and NIOS.

Prashant Padmanabhan, an advocate, brought the petition for expedited listing before a bench presided over by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana. He asserted that the matter concerns the Class 10 and 12 examinations. "Physical classes were unable to be held due to the pandemic," Padmanabhan added. Following brief submissions, the Chief Justice stated: "Let the matter be heard by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar's bench." Justice Khanwilkar had previously heard petitions regarding last year's board exams.

The plea said, numerous students enrolled in CBSE, ICSE, NIOS, and state boards approached petitioner Anubha Shrivastava Sahai regarding board exam-related issues and are directly affected by the outcome of this PIL. "To require students to appear and face examination with the additional fear of contracting the Covid-19 virus will not only be unjust, but it will also be completely inhuman."
