SC dismisses all the petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation into the Rafale deal

New Delhi: The Top Court, on Friday pronounced the verdict on pleas seeking court-monitored investigation in the multi-billion dollar Rafale fighter jet deal with France.Supreme Court is satisfied that there is no occasion to doubt the process of Rafale Deal .  The top court on its verdict today said, “A country can’t afford to be underprepared. Not correct for the Court to sit as an appellant authority and scrutinise all aspects. “

 Earlier, a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had reserved its judgment on a batch of pleas on November 14. Worth mention here the Rafale fighter is a twin-engine Medium   Multi Role   Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) created by French aerospace company Dassault Aviation.

Supreme Court noted, “We don’t find any material to show that it’s commercial favouritism.” 

CJI Ranjan Gogoi said, 'we can't compel government to purchase 126 aircrafts and its not proper for the court to examine each aspect of this case. It isn't a job of court to compare pricing details.' #RafaleDeal

CJI Ranjan Gogoi also said,  'there is no reason for interference in the choice of offset partner and perception of individuals can't be the basis for roving inquiry in sensitive issue of defence procurement'. "
