New Delhi: The police investigation process has always been questioned. This is because sometimes criminals are acquitted of the court because of weak police investigations. The police are unable to produce sufficient evidence against them before the court. The matter is again in the spotlight. The acquittal of all the accused in the Pahlu Khan Lynching case is being suspected in the police investigation and the trial of court.

Supreme Court Judge Dhananjay Chandrachud, while asked about the acquittal of all the accused in the Pahlu Khan Lynching case, said that the cases which have been investigated under the supervision of the court have yielded better results.

"The biggest problem for a judge is to decide the way evidence is presented to him," he said. "In cases where courts were contacted at an appropriate level and monitoring of investigations was possible, better results have been achieved," Justice Chandrachud said. He cited an example of the Kathua rape case where the Supreme Court took a number of steps to see that the investigation was not affected.

He, however, said that the court's supervision has limited cases of investigation. He was delivering a lecture on 'Emerging Freedom Through Art'. Justice Chandrachud said that freedom has become a source of venom against those who think, speak, eat, wear and have a different attitude. The court has acquitted all the accused in the Lynching of Khan.
