Another setback for Karti Chidambaram  as today SC refuses to pass interim order on his anticipatory bail plea.

CBI has arrested Karti Chidambaram in relation to the INX Media case for non-cooperation and money laundering and violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act  few days before.

Karti's name had cropped up in the aforesaid case which links to Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval granted in 2007 for receipt of funds by INX Media when his father and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram was the Union finance minister during the previous UPA government.

The central investigation had registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR), the ED’s equivalent of a police FIR, in opposition to the prime accused named in a CBI complaint, including Karti Chidambaram, INX Media and its directors Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.

The ECIR was filed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Earlier in Delhi court sent Karti Chidambaram's chartered accountant S Bhaskararaman, who arrested in the INX Media money laundering case, to 14-day judicial custody.

Special judge NK Malhotra sent the chartered accountant (CA) to Tihar Jail following  that he was produced from the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), whose special public prosecutor Nitesh Rana had wanted three more days of custodial questioning.
