SC's Constitution Bench to take up again hearing in Aadhaar stuff today

New Delhi [India], Jan 18 (NT): The Supreme Court's five-judge Constitution bench on Thursday will go on with hearing appeals lodged in concern to the Aadhaar stuff.

The bench, chaired by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra will resume hearing in several petitions lodged to challenge the constitutional validity of the identification number.

Before on Wednesday, senior lawyer Shyam Divan claimed that the Aadhaar Card may reason the demise of citizens' civil rights. Divan is appearing for the petitioners' side and told the bench that a people's constitution was being transformed into a state's Constitution, adding that it was wrong to take people's biometric data for Aadhaar Card.

as the commencement of the Aadhaar card, its validity and possible leakages of data have floated up time and again. The top court has also acknowledged pleas on the subject of the linkage of this 12-digit number with mobile phones, bank accounts and so on, the last date for which was extended to March 31 this year.

in recent times, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) decided to allow 'Face Authentication' infusion mode on registered devices by July 1, and therefore people facing complexity in other existing modes of verification such as fingerprints, iris, and one-time-password (OTP) could easily validate.
