New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has received a major relief from the Supreme Court. The apex court has stayed the trial against Baghel in the obscene CD scandal. The court has also issued notice to Baghel. The CBI, which is investigating the matter, moved the Supreme Court to hear the case outside Chhattisgarh. Baghel was issued a notice only after this. The CM is accused of threatening the witnesses. CBI registered a case against Baghel in September 2018.

The court asked Baghel and his advisor to make them aware that the case against him and other accused should not be transferred outside the state? On behalf of the CBI, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the witnesses in the case were being threatened and an FIR has been filed against them. He said before a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, 'Two witnesses have given statements under section 164 (statement before magistrate).

After the charge sheet was filed, one of the accused became the chief minister of the state and the other his political advisor. He also told the court that eyewitnesses in the case are in direct danger. The Supreme Court also issued notice in the case. CBI wants to shift the trial to Delhi. CBI was banned after the Congress formed the government in the state. After this, the investigating agency had recently filed a petition in the apex court to transfer the case to another court outside the state.
