In Cauvery Water Dispute in which states Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are involved today the Supreme Court is all set to hear it. Earlier, the bench led by Justice Dipak Misra ordered  Karnataka Government to provide 200 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. It directed it to do so until its further order.

The plea of having compensation from both the state's government during the dispute have been dismissed by the top court in January.

On January 9, the Tamil Nadu Government sought a compensation of Rs. 2,480 crores from Karnataka for not releasing water to the state despite getting the Supreme Court directive to do so.
