New Delhi: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear today (August 16) the issue pertaining to FIFA suspending the All India Football Federation (AIFF) with immediate effect. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the matter before the Apex court, updating it about the latest developments and asking to hear the issue on Wednesday, August 17.

On Wednesday, a bench presided over by Justice DY Chandrachud will hear the case. Due to FIFA's decision, the nation will not be able to host the Under-17 Women's World Cup in October.

Due to "undue influence" from outside parties, FIFA immediately suspended the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will be suspended immediately due to "undue influence from third parties, which constitutes a major violation of the FIFA Statutes," according to a statement from FIFA.

When the subject was brought up, the Solicitor General informed the bench that there had been some progress in the AIFF-related case that was currently before it and asked that it be heard the following day.

"There has been some progress. The issue might not be removed. FIFA sent a letter, which is now in the public domain "Mehta informed the High Court.

The AIFF matter is scheduled for hearing tomorrow and won't be dropped, said justice Chandrachud. "There wouldn't be a deletion. The court master says that will be the first item tomorrow "said the bench.
