NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear on Tuesday a plea seeking identification and eviction of illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingya infiltrators and migrants. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi will hear the case. BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay has also filed a petition supporting the Centre's stand on the government's move to identify and send more than 40,000 Rohingya Muslims living in India to Myanmar.

The petition also sought directions to the Centre and state governments to identify, detain and send all intruders and illegal migrants, including Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya, back to Myanmar. The petition said that a large number of illegal migrants, especially from Myanmar and Bangladesh, who came to India, have endangered the demographic structure of border districts.

The petition said it has also severely affected security and national integration. Earlier in 2017, the Central government had filed an affidavit in the apex court in the Rohingya case. The affidavit expressed concern over the entry of Rohingya community into India from the Centre. The Centre had said in an affidavit that the illegal migrant Rohingya community in India is a major threat to the security of the country.
