New Delhi [India], Dec 15 (NT): The Supreme Court on Friday will pass an interim order on different pleas in quest of a stay on the Union Government's verdict of compulsory linking of Aadhaar.

Chief Justice Dipak Misra along with four-judge Constitutional bench said the final hearing on the petitions would start from January 17 next year.

Today the hearing on the compulsory linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts, mobile numbers and various other schemes will begin at 10:30 am.

Earlier this month, The Centre had extended the time limit for compulsory linking of the Unique Identification number to gain diverse services and welfare schemes up to March 31 next year.

Before on October 30, the top court referred all the Aadhaar related cases to the five-judge Constitutional bench hedded by Chief Justice Dipak Misra to be formed by the end of November.

Previously the court had marked 22 cases to be heard by a smaller bench.

The cases face up to a number of aspects of Aadhaar, along with the use of data collected under the unique identification programme. (NT)
