Thane, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a clerk working with a school in Pen taluka of neighbouring Raigad district for accepting bribe in lieu of facilitating a co-worker's transfer to a preferred location.

The convict, identified as Yuvraj Karankale 41 years old, worked as a clerk with the school aided under the Integrated Tribal Development Program (ITDP).

Thane ACB Deputy SP Sanjay Mohite said, that the victim, who was to be transferred to another school, requested the convict to facilitate his appointment at a location of his choice.

The demand of the accused included Rs 50,000 from victim in lieu of the favour.

According to the official, "the victim approached the ACB, following which a trap was laid yesterday and Karankale was arrested while taking bribe amount of Rs 50,000 from him in the school premises".

An FIR has been registered and the matter is being probed..
