Chennai: School-college closure has been announced in many districts due to the ongoing rains since yesterday (February 1) in Tamil Nadu. This series of rain continues even today. In view of this, due to heavy rains in the Mayiladuthurai district of Tamil Nadu, a holiday has been declared in schools and colleges. A holiday has been declared for schools in the Tiruvarur district as well. Apart from this, due to heavy rains in the Nagapattinam district, a holiday has been declared in schools and colleges.

Due to the depression over the Bay of Bengal, a warning of rain has been issued in its surrounding areas. This depression is moving fast and today it is expected to weaken. However, till February 3, its effect will be seen in southern parts of Tamil Nadu and South Kerala. According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, today i.e. on February 2, the intensity of rainfall will increase further and the sea condition will be from rough to very rough along Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu coast. During this, the wind speed can be 40 to 50 km per hour.

This depression will gradually move south but will remain over the Gulf of Mannar, the west coast of Sri Lanka, and the Comorin area till February 3. After this, the depression will get weaker. In these areas, till February 04, 2023, its effect will be seen in the form of rain and strong winds.
