On Saturday, Odisha Education Minister SR Das said that students of classes 1 to 8 in the state can be promoted to the next class without any examination as schools have been closed since March 2020 in view of the corona epidemic. He informed that the final decision in this regard will be taken by the government soon. After the government order, students from class 1 to 8 will be promoted to the next class without taking the exam.
Schools are still closed for small classes in the state and education is dependent on online classes only. It was decided to open the school only for students from class 9th to 12th. In view of the recent increase in corona cases in some states, schools have been closed again after opening. Schools in Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Gujarat, and even several cities in Punjab have been closed again due to increasing cases of corona infection in Maharashtra.
However, the preparation for board examinations is still going on in all the states. The Odisha education minister also said that the new academic session may not start in April this year. In view of the state of transition, the academic session of this time is also going to be late. The state government will take its decision on this matter soon and a guideline will be issued for schools and colleges.
