Washington: In a terrifying incident, school districts throughout the United States decided to suspend classes on Friday following claims on the short-video app TikTok that students and teachers should skip school due to "suspected threats of gunshots or explosives."
According to reports, "a new wave of videos popped online with more warnings based on both the purported accusations and the actual, true cancellations of some school classes," as schools cancelled lessons in reaction to the alleged threats.
In reaction to the threats, school districts in California, Texas, Minnesota, and Missouri announced that they will close their doors on Friday. "Elsewhere," the report claimed late Thursday, "districts have announced they plan to have heightened police presence or have emailed parents to say they've been examining the complaints."
The threats, according to some districts and law enforcement divisions, are neither credible or even real. Baltimore County Public Schools reported on Twitter that "law enforcement agencies have reviewed this threat and found that it originated in Arizona and is not credible."
"At this time, no threats have been made to any of the schools in Mexico, Missouri," a Missouri school district reported. Milford Exempted Village School District in Ohio addressed to parents, "There have been no local, credible threats."
