There are many types of species in the world. Out of these we know only a few and there are many whom we do not know. Maybe even scientists would not know. Scientists are slowly discovering all these. Today we are going to tell you one such news, knowing which you too will be surprised. Actually, the species we know are enough for us. In such a situation, more than 100 species have also been discovered, about which we are telling.

Actually, we are talking about the Mekong region where more than 100 new species have been discovered last year. The researchers found that crocodile-like lizards and Thai tortoises kept for sale in the local market are among these new species. Southeast Asian countries located around the Mekong River are the countries with the richest biodiversity in the world. These include Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Not only this, every year scientists discover one or the other new species and last year they found more than 100 species.

According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), after a long investigation process, scientists confirmed the discovery of a total of 115 new species in the year 2016. Let us tell you about them that these include 18 amphibians i.e. creatures living in water and land, two fishes, 11 crawling creatures, 88 plants and three mammals. Along with this, it was also reported that more than 2,500 new species have been discovered in the Greater Mekong in the last 20 years. So this is a very new thing for us and according to them it seems that such diverse animals will continue to be found on earth.
