Scindia writes to 5 states CM seeking land for this purpose

Bhopal: Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has recently written to five states CMs. In the letter, he reportedly urged the five states to expedite the work including land acquisition for airports. Under the information received, these five states are Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Odisha. Let us also tell you that Jyotiraditya Scindia has urged all chief ministers to resolve issues related to various infrastructure including land acquisition for airports at the earliest.

 

 

In fact, a statement was issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation last Friday. The statement said, "In view of the increasing number of air passengers in the country, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), a public sector undertaking, has taken the initiative to develop and expand airports at a cost of Rs 20,000 crores in the next four to five years. In a letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Scindia said, "AAI needs 152.5 acres of land to expand the air base in the state but the state government has not yet handed over the land to the authority.''

On the other hand, in a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Udvav Thackeray, Scindia said, "AAI needs 234.21 acres of land for basic runway strip and additional facilities at Akola airport. Out of this, only 149.95 acres have been provided to AAI and the remaining 84.26 acres are yet to be given. Similarly, 182 acres of land is required in Aurangabad.'' In a letter to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Scindia wrote, "20 acres of land is required for basic runway strip at Khajuraho airport. 110 acres for expansion of civil enclave at Gwalior airport and 2,314 acres for the second runway at Indore airport and related infrastructure.''
