New Delhi: The Chinese Defense Minister is coming to India next week amidst the ongoing deadlock on the border between India and China. This will be the first time after the violent clash in Galvan Valley in the year 2020 that the Chinese Defense Minister will visit India. Chinese Defense Minister will hold face-to-face bilateral talks with Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for the first time.

According to media reports, China's Defense Minister Li Shangfu and Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu will attend an important meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in India next week. SCO Defense Ministerial meeting will be held on 27 and 28 April 2023 under the leadership of India. However, the participation of Pakistani Defense Minister Khwaja Asif in the meeting has not yet been confirmed. Khwaja can attend the meeting through video conferencing.

Let us tell you that this is the first time after the 2020 conflict in Galvan Valley, when Chinese Defense Minister Li will visit Delhi. The border standoff between the two countries continues even after retreating at some friction points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Also, there has been no resolution on the old issues of deadlock.
