A decade after Scream 4, SCREAM is preparing to relaunch the famous slasher genre to theatres. While the impending sequel teases a whole new Ghostface, Paramount Pictures has recently produced a new featurette honouring the 25th anniversary of the Wes Craven classic that began it all in 1996.

The cast and crew of the upcoming fifth Scream film's "For Wes" behind-the-scenes featurette discussed Craven's distinct vision for horror and how his many legendary achievements helped create cinema. According to PEOPLE, Craven, who died in 2015 at the age of 76 from a brain tumour, directed all four Scream films as well as horror classics like A Nightmare on Elm Street. In the video, Courteney Cox adds, "You usually think of Wes Craven as the master of horror." "Not only is he a fantastic filmmaker, but he is also a fantastic human being."

"I could start sobbing when we start talking about Wes," David Arquette says, visibly moved. "He was like a father, in a lot of ways, to all of us," Neve Campbell adds. Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are directing the sequel to Scream, with the three original cast members reprising their roles. The moving video leverages behind-the-scenes photos from the original Scream film's development to connect the past and future. Despite the fact that Wes Craven is no longer alive, the planned sequel aims to honour his vision by returning many of the themes that helped to make the first Scream such a cultural sensation.
