Sea phase of MILAN-2022 concludes in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: The sea phase of the 11th edition of MILAN, in which 26 ships, one submarine, and 21 aircraft participated, concluded on Friday.

A series of complex and advanced exercises in all three dimensions of naval operations were conducted to improve the partner Navies' compatibility, interoperability, mutual understanding, and maritime cooperation.

MILAN-2022's sea phase began on Tuesday, with 26 ships, 21 aircraft, and one submarine taking part in the ongoing multilateral naval exercise in the Bay of Bengal. The sea phase, which will last until March 4, will include advanced and complex exercises in all three dimensions of maritime operations.

The MILAN 22 closing ceremony was held in an unusual format, with commanding officers from participating ships arriving by helicopters and boats onboard INS Jalashwa at anchorage. Six foreign ships participated in the closing ceremony virtually. RAdm Sanjay Bhalla, NM, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, presided over the ceremony.

The ceremony included a recap of the exercises that took place at sea. MILAN 22's harbour and sea phases were well-executed, according to commanding officers from participating countries.
