With the outgoing Union Council of Ministers tendering its the resignation on Friday evening, speculation has begun over who could be part of the new Cabinet after Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes oath for the second consecutive term.

Several names are already doing the rounds for key posts in the Union Cabinet. Outgoing Railway Minister Piyush Goyal is leading the buzz and he is tipped to become the next Finance Minister of the country, a news agency reported. Arun Jaitley has been keeping unwell and Goyal had briefly served as the finance minister when the former was undergoing treatment last year.

The government leadership believes it would be good to allot the finance portfolio to someone who has already worked in the ministry. Goyal is the frontrunner also because with a full Budget is around the corner. It was Goyal only who had presented the interim Budget this year. This could be one of the reasons why Modi may pick Goyal for finance over a brand new face, sources said.

However, other names are also doing the rounds for the key Cabinet portfolio and among them are of BJP president Amit Shah.

There is a strong buzz about Shah joining the Cabinet in Modi government’s second term and apart from the finance portfolio, defence and home ministries are also being looked like an option for him, if sources are to be believed. Meanwhile, Ravi Shankar Prasad, outgoing law and IT minister, may be given the Telecom Ministry portfolio. Prasad had served as telecom minister for some time in the outgoing government.
