Secret surrender of Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya

JNU sedition case took another turn when JNU student Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya surrendered before police at a secret location in New Delhi, facing charges of a raising anti-India slogan. After Delhi High Court refused to provide Safety until they surrender. JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar is already behind the Tihar Jail charged by sedition.

Shelha Rashid Shora who is the vice president of student union and student leader from Jammu and Kashmir and currently studying law and governance at JNU told to the media Khalid and Bhattacharya surrender to the police for keeping their safety in mind after the legal discussion, both this these student traveled to secret location in the JNU private security vehicle. The case against the Khalid and Bhattacharya is registered at Vasant Kunj police station.

‘’We hope that Kanhaiya gets bail and we will fight politically and legally thereafter’’ Selha said. ‘’comrade Umar and comrade Anirban have surrender themselves to police. It’s a moment of sadness for the campus because we have seen this activists for years standing with  the student, they have placed their faith in the law and we hope that they will be released soon. We also hope that comrade Kanhaiya gets bail tomorrow’’ she added.

Reportedly, both the student Umar and Anirban referred to attack last week on journalists and JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar at Patiala house court by lawyers. They said they will be attacked again if they were taken to the Patiala house court. However, earlier on Tuesday the Delhi High Court asked to both the student to provide secret place and time to surrender, though the Delhi police decided to not to enter the JNU campus.
