Srinagar: Joint operation by security forces against militants is continuing in Shopian, Jammu, and Kashmir. Security forces have killed 4 terrorists during the encounter. This was stated by the Kashmir police. Security forces are said to be still in operation. The encounter is taking place at Munihal in Shopian. Two of the four killed terrorists are reported to belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
An AK47 and 2 pistols have been recovered from the militants. Earlier, another militant was killed in a three-day encounter at Rawalpora in South Kashmir's Shopian district. Security forces finally killed another terrorist Vilayat Hussain alias Sajjad Afghani after a three-day rigorous vigil in the encounter. Vilayat alias Sajjad Afghani was a resident of the Rawalpora area of Shopian and became a terrorist in 2018. Earlier, he was holding command with the Lashkar in the entire region, but later Afghani broke off from the Lashkar and joined the Jaish-e-Mohammed gang.
Sajjad was the commander of the A Plus category and was active for a long time and was closely monitored by the security agencies. It is also reported that Sajjad had been supporting cadre and logistic support for terrorist organizations of Pakistan origin since 2018. Vilayat alias Sajjad Afghani was appointed as the district commander of Jaish when he had discharged Lashkar from being a general terrorist and Afghani was also the main cadre to recruit new terrorists for Jaish.
