The cyclonic storm hit the coasts of Gujarat late on Monday night. The cyclone, formed in the Janha Arabian Sea, has brought with it heavy rains and thunderstorms, damaging houses and uprooting several trees in parts of western and southern India. The storm has so far killed 12 people.
In Gujarat, trees fell at each place in Somnath and Diu blocking roads which were cleared late on Monday night with the help of army personnel.
According to reports, the India Meteorological Ministry said on Tuesday that Cyclone Taukte has weakened after hitting the Gujarat coast between Diu and Una in Saurashtra region on Monday night.
