Delhi Capitals (DC)  beat the Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 on Monday. It was DC  wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant who played a brilliant knock of 78 runs off 36 balls to guide his team to a 6-wicket win. The win takes Delhi Capitals top of the IPL standings on the basis of Net Run Rate (NRR), Man of the Match Pant admitted that the World cup selection thought was running in his mind and he, hence, wasn't able to fully focus on the task at hand.

Since the knock of  78 runs in the IPL opener, Pant has struggled for consistency with the bat for DC. While there were suggestions that the looming World Cup selection might be affecting his concentration on the field, the batsman admitted that it was the case but now he is ready to purely focus on the IPL assignment.

Pant said, “I am feeling lovely,” said Pant at the post-match presentation ceremony after being named Man of the Match. “To make your team win in an important match is a good feeling. I won't lie, the selection thought was running in my mind. I focussed on my process, I trusted my prowess and it worked for me. I knew how wicket was behaving and I took advantage of that. The most important things for our team is that everyone needs their role and we try to keep it simple.”
