Selena Gomez seemed to have realized that her previous statements about handing her life over to Disney were misconstrued. The singer now explained that the remarks regarding her work on the Disney channel were made in jest and that she is "beyond proud" of her previous work with the channel.

To refresh 'YOUR' memory, the Fetish singer joked about signing her "life away to Disney" when promoting her forthcoming Hulu series Only Murders in the Building earlier this month, referring to her time as a young performer on the channel's Wizards of Waverly Place sitcom from 2007 to 2012.

“I signed my life away to Disney at a young age, so I didn’t know exactly what I was doing. I was a kid, I was just running around on set, and now I feel like a sponge and I soak up all the wisdom that I can,” she said at a press panel. Now, taking cognisance of her comments in a recent joint interview with Steve Martin, Gomez addressed that the comment was “made in jest”. “I’m beyond proud of the work that I did with Disney as well. It kind of shaped who I am in a way,” Gomez said, adding that she was looking forward to doing another shot to television

Gomez began her career with the television series, Barney and Friends. In her teens, she was seen in Wizards of Waverly Place. She also had a brief role in Hannah Montana.
