Akshay Kumar's Selfiee with Emraan Hashmi already hit the theatre screen. The film is helmed by Raj Mehta. Akshay is leaving no stone unturned in promoting the film. However, even after that, his film opens with a very low amount. Even on day 3 the film continues to perform terribly.
According to a Box office reports, The film collected Rs 2.55 crore on Friday, Day 1, Selfiee became Akshay Kumar's lowest box office opener. The film did not show much of an increase in its box office collection on the following days as its numbers on Saturday, and Sunday. As per the Box office reports, on Day 3, Sunday, Selfiee showed a slight growth but that did not help it much. The film collects between Rs 3.50 crore to Rs 4.50 crore. While it is an increase from its Day 1 and Day 2 numbers, the overall collection is still less. The film total collection in India is Rs 10 crore and Rs 11 crore. If Selfiee continues a disappointing run at the box office, it will be unable to make it past Rs 20 crore to Rs 25 crore.
Akshay’s last film Sooryavanshi, RakshaBandhan, Ram Setu, Samrat Prithviraj Cuttputtli and Now selfie left the audience unimpressed. In the recent interview speaking about his consecutive films he said, “The audience have changed, you need to change, you need to dismantle yourself. You have to start again because the audience require to see something else. It is a great alarm, aapki film nahi chal rahi to galti aapki hai. When your films flop in a row, it is an alarm for you that it is time for you to change. Mai koshish kar raha hun, wahi kar sakta hoon/ Do not blame the audience or anyone else. It is my fault, 100%. Aapki film na chalna is not because of audience. It is because of what you selected. Maybe you have not given the right ingredients in the film.”
'Selfiee' is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. The film will also mark Prithviraj Sukumaran and Magic Frames' debut in Hindi cinema production. Selfiee' is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama 'Driving Licence'. The original Malayalam movie was directed by Lal Jr from a script by Sachy. Akshay and Emraan will also be seen having a dance-off on the recreated version of the song 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari'. The original number is from the 1994 film 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' featuring Akshay alongside Saif Ali Khan.
