Lucknow: Senior Congress leader and Western UP in-charge Jyotiraditya Scindia rushed to review the party's shameful performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Lucknow. It was necessary to discuss the reasons for the defeat that even the leaders who were contesting the elections were present at the meeting. But almost all the Congressmen who were missing from this meeting had to get feedback from Scindia. Leaders who attended the meeting attributed their defeat to weak organisations, preference to defection leaders, neglect of leaders and activists.

According to the report, Sriprakash Jaiswal, who contested from Kanpur, was not present at the meeting. Not only that, former Union Minister and Congress candidate from Farrukhabad, Salman Khurshid, did not reach the party headquarters in Lucknow and abstained from the crucial meeting. Another important leader and contestant of the Lok Sabha election from Dhaurahra, Jitin Prasad, also did not attend the review meeting. Jyotiraditya Scindia has not responded to the non-existence of these leaders. However, the purpose of the meeting remained incomplete due to their absence.

According to sources, the leaders who attended the meeting have told UP Congress President Raj Babbar that due to lack of organisation, the atmosphere could not be created in favour of the party in the state. On the other hand, some leaders said that the party has preferred defectors in place of loyalists. This led to activists reluctant to gather behind such a leader. Jyotiraditya Scindia has said, "The decision to declare Priyanka as the face of UPCM will be taken by the party high command, but our priority right now is to strengthen the organisation."
