In the opening session of trade, the Sensex was trading higher and it rose over 100 points. The Sensex was up 171.56 points at 29747.30, while the Nifty was up 45.80 points at 9227.25.
The top gainers today were ITC, Infosys and Tata Power while the top losers in the trade were Tata Steel, NTPC and Zee Entertainment.
The Indian rupee opened lower per dollar today.
