Stock market crosses 59,000 marks for the first time

Mumbai: The Indian stock market is witnessing a sharp jump these days. The stock market is constantly touching new dimensions of height. The Sensex-Nifty also reached historic highs on Thursday. The Sensex (BSE Sensex) crossed the 59,000 marks around 1.36 pm today. Auto and telecom stocks witnessed a huge stir today after the government announced the relief package.

BSE Sensex opened 158 points higher at 58,881.04 in the morning and at the end of trading, Sensex gained 417.96 points to close at a record high of 59,141.16 so far. Around 3 pm, the Sensex was trading 481 points stronger at its all-time high of 59,204.29.  Similarly, the Nifty gained 110.05 points today to close at an all-time record level of 17,629.50. The Nifty at NSE gained 20 points to open at 17,539.20. The Nifty reached the new historic height of 17,644.60 around 3 pm.

State that the government has announced a relief package for the auto and telecom sector on Wednesday. Telecom and auto stocks have been witnessing a stir since then. Today Bharti Airtel had gained nearly 2.5 percent to Rs 743.90 in the morning, but later went into the red mark. Airtel finally closed 1 percent lower at Rs 718.15.
