Market Closing:  On Tuesday, the Indian equity benchmarks finished in the green, snapping a four-session losing streak fueled by strong buying interest in information technology and pharmaceutical stocks.

Mid- and small-cap stocks finished strongly, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index rising 1.24 percent and small-cap stocks rising 1.51 percent. 13 of the 15 sector gauges compiled by the National Stock Exchange finished in the green. Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma outperformed the index by up to 2.69 and 2.38 percent, respectively.

Indian Oil Corp was the top Nifty gainer, rising 4.23 percent to Rs. 117. Sun Pharma, Tata Consumer Products, Cipla, and TCS also benefited. Hindalco, ONGC, Tata Steel, and Britannia Industries, on the other hand, were among the losers.
