Sensex, Nifty Gain; Jet airways rose 5pc

Indian equity markets have opened with moderate gains on Tuesday’s session trading session, amidst subdued global cues.

The BSE Sensex opened 0.3 percent higher at 45,568. The index opened higher for the fourth consecutive day. The NSE Nifty 50 index opened similarly with gains for the sixth consecutive session, opening near the mark of 13,400 at 13,393 - up 0.3 percent.

Among sectoral indices, the Nifty Media index has opened 0.7 percent higher while the PSU Bank index is up 0.6 percent. The Nifty Metal index is up 0.4 percent while the Nifty Bank, Nifty Realty and Nifty FMCG index are up 0.3 percent each at the start of trade.

Jet Airways shares rose 5 percent as the consortium of UAE based businessman Murari Lal Jalan and London's Kalrock Capital said it expects to operationalize the airline some in the summer of 2021.

Broader markets are outperforming at the start of trade. The Nifty Midcap index is up for the eighth straight day, trading with gains of 0.9 percent while the Smallcap index is trading 0.8 percent higher at the start of trade.
