The Indian stock market opened higher Thursday supported by gains in banking, metals and auto stocks amid a mixed trend in global markets. Broader markets also supported gains with Nifty Smallcap and Small Cap100 and gaining 0.6 percent each. Nifty held above 12900, while Sensex gained 170 points to 43998 during the morning session.

Stocks in REC Ltd. seen buying trends in selective power companies and REC has gained by around 18 percent from expiry-to-expiry with a built-up of long positions. Also, shares of Shriram Transport Finance is doing well and continuously making higher tops and higher bottom on the weekly scale. This stock has seen a significant uptick and the short-covering cannot be ruled out in the last trading sessions on the expiry.

Siemens is also trading higher by 5 percent after its strong quarter-2 FY21 result. The company announced a dividend of Rs. 7 per share of Rs 2 each for the financial year ended September 2020. Further, there is a nationwide PSU strike announced against government policies.

Tanla Platforms on another acquisition by Vantage Equity Fund and Massachusetts Institute of Technology hit a fresh new one-year high in the share price. This is the third consecutive session when the stock has hit a new fresh high.
