Sensex, Nifty rise For Fifth Day led by Strong Global Cues

Indian share markets have opened higher in today's session, led by very positive sentiment across the globe. The  BSE Sensex benchmark opened 0.62 percent higher at 45,891 while the NSE Nifty 50 index has gained 0.5 percent to open at 13,458. The Sensex has opened higher for the fifth consecutive day while the Nifty is up for the seventh day in a row.

Among the sectoral indices, the PSU Bank index continues its upward momentum; opening another 2.1 percent higher, extending Tuesday's 7 percent advance.  Also, banks and financials will be in focus as the Supreme Court would continue with its hearing.

The Media index is up 0.9 percent while the I.T. index, along with the Metal index is up 0.8 percent at the start of trade.

Broader markets also have opened with gains. The Nifty midcap index is up 0.8 percent while the Smallcap index is up 0.6 percent in early trade.

Shares of ICICI Bank traded after the Bank will offload some stake in ICICI Securities via the ‘Offer For Sale’ route.
