The Indian benchmark equity indices, Sensex and Nifty closed with enormous gains for 5th consecutive days, on Friday led by heavy buying in banking and financial stocks amid positive global cues. Nifty has now recorded 12000 levels, most likely shedding all 2020 losses to reclaim pre-Covid highs. Broader indices, Nifty Smallcap100 and Nifty Midcap100 indices gained 0.5 percent each. Secorally, Nifty Private Bank rallied the most over 2 percent followed by Nifty Financial Services, Nifty IT and Nifty Realty while Nifty Pharma and Nifty FMCG ended in the red.

Among the top Nifty gainers were Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank,  and Kotak Mahindra Bank.  On the other hand, top losers on the Nifty stocks were Maruti Suzuki, Gail India, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement.

Banking and Financial stocks primarily led today's rally as the hope of easing NPA pressure helped these sectors to make an upward move. Nifty gained close to 2 percent. Other financial stocks that led the rally today are stocks such as Shriram Transport Finance, IndiaBulls Housing Fin, RBL Bank, Mannappuram Finance among others, in the Sensex pack of stocks.
