Key Benchmark indices NSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed higher for the second consecutive session Monday boosted by buying in index heavyweights Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Mahindra dn Mahindra stocks amid a positive trend in global markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 240.36 points, or 0.38% to end the day at 62,787.47, At intraday, it reached high of 396.09 points, or 0.63%, to 62,943.20 throughout the day. The NSE Nifty gained 59.75 points, or 0.32% to finish at 18,593.85.
Mahindra & Mahindra and Axis Bank led the Sensex pack with gains of 3.8% and 2.68%, respectively. Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, and Sun Pharma were next. Among the laggards were Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, Nestle, Hindustan Unilever, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and ITC.
International Markets: Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong saw positive closing prices in Asian markets. European stock markets were trading under a range of conditions. On Friday, U.S. markets ended much higher.

Rupee Vs Dollar The rupee lost 29 paisa to end the day at 82.68 (provisional) against the dollar as a result of the strong foreign exchange performance of the dollar. The local unit began trading at 82.47 against the dollar on the interbank foreign exchange and ultimately finished at 82.68 (provisional), down 29 paise from its previous level.
Crude Oil: Benchmark Brent crude for world oil increased 1.92% to $77.59 per barrel.
According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares of stock on Friday totaling 658.88 crore.
The BSE benchmark increased 118.57 points or 0.19% on Friday to close at 62,547.11. To end at 18,534.10, the Nifty gained 46.35 points, or 0.25%.
