Indian share markets opened the shortened week on a strong note. Global sentiment is positive, in spite of a negative closing on Wall Street on Monday. The BSE Sensex traded 0.30 percent higher at 44,286 while the NSE Nifty 50 index stood 13,005, 40 higher at around 9.30 am

For the sectoral indices, the Nifty Metals and Pharma and index were the top performers at the start of trade, with gains of 1.5 percent each. The Nifty Auto and FMCG index gained 1.2 percent while the Realty index was up 1 percent on opening. Broader markets too have opened in-line with the benchmarks. The Nifty Midcap index is up 1percent while the Smallcap index gained 0.8percent.

Overseas, most Asian stocks are trading higher as investors react to the release of a private survey of China's manufacturing activity. In US, stocks dipped on Monday as the prospect of a vaccine-driven economic recovery and further central bank stimulus measures eclipsed immediate concerns about the spiking coronavirus pandemic.

Moderna Inc on November 30 applied for U.S. emergency authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine after full results from a late-stage study showed it was 94.1percent effective with no serious safety concerns.
