Indian share market today slipped with BSE Sensex falling by 410 points on Tuesday, tracking losses in Infosys, ICICI Bank and HDFC Housing, HDFC Bank amid a weak trend in global markets.

After falling over 1,032.35 during the session, the Sensex pared some losses to end 410.28 points lower at 59,667.60. Similarly, the Nifty declined 106.50 points to 17,748.60. PowerGrid, NTPC, Sun Pharma, Titan, Kotak Bank and Dr Reddy’s were among the gainers. On the other hand, Bharti Airtel Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Tech and Infosys were major losers. On the sectoral front, the IT and realty indices fell 2-3 per cent, while power, oil & gas and metal indices ended in the green.

Gold prices eased on  hurt by a stronger dollar and rising US Treasury yields, while investors awaited more cues from Federal Reserve officials on the central bank's monetary policy shift.

On the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX), October gold contracts were trading higher by 0.36 percent at Rs 46,162 for 10 grams at 0935 hours. September silver futures were up by 1.04 percent at Rs 60,578 a kilogram. Gold prices slipped by 104 to Rs 46,170 per 10 gram on subdued global cues, stronger dollar but the downside was capped by rupee depreciation.
