Sensex rallies 580 points to new record high of 59,721; Nifty nears 17791

Indian share market benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading at fresh record high levels on Friday. While the BSE Sensex hit a historic high of 59,550, Nifty 50 hit 17,748 in the morning session at around 11 am.

Bajaj Finserve, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Bank,  Eicher Motors, Axis Bank were among top gainers in the Nifty while  Tata Steel, Jsw Steel, Hindalco Industries, UPL and ONGC were the only losers on the index.

All the indices were trading in green barring Nifty Media and Nifty Metal. Bank Nifty which represents the 12 most liquid and large capitalised stocks from the banking sector surged to cross the crucial 38,000-mark.

Shares of Vodafone Idea continued their upward movement and were up 10 percent at Rs 12.37 on the Bombay Stock Exchange in the intra-day trade on Friday. The stock has zoomed 39 percent in the past two trading days after the government announced relief package for the telecom sector.
