Mumbai, Due to profit-booking by funds and retail investors despite firm global cues, the Nifty and the sensex falls into the negative zone.

The 30-share BSE index Sensex was down 21.02 points or 0.07 % at 28,957 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was down 9.85 points or 0.11 per cent at 8,933.15 at 10.20 a.m.

Top five Sensex gainers were Tata Steel (+1.75%), Wipro (+1.03%), Infosys (+0.87%), ONGC (+0.75%) and State Bank of India (+0.73%), while the major losers were Asian Paints (-1.87%), HDFC (-1.44%), Adani Ports (-1.09%), NTPC (-1.04%) and Bharti Airtel (-0.82%).

The Sensex opened 58 points up at 29,036 while the Nifty opened 26 points up at 8,969 .
