Key benchmark indices lost a huge over 1.5 percent on Wednesday’s closing session, led by weakness in the auto, bank, IT and healthcare pack.  The BSE Sensex ended the lower by 694 points while NSE Nifty settled at 12855, falling as much as 1.51%. Broader markets also lost on similar lines by as much as 1.65 percent of Nifty Midcap 100.

Top Nifty gainers are ONGC, Gail, Adani Ports, SBI Life Insurance and Power Grid. While the top losers include Eicher Motors, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Sun Pharma.

During the session,  BSE Auto hit a one-year high. Also, HDFC Bank hit a new high after having reached a market capitalization of Rs. 8.00-lakh crore. ONGC rose in early trade by as much as 6 percent there is an expectation that stocks from the sectors will continue to see further upside. Moreover, after the Cabinet approved LVB and DBS amalgamation, the stock of the former was locked in 5 percent upper circuit.
