Seven eyewitnesses to suicide by rape-murder case accused: DGP Mahender Reddy

Hyderabad: State Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy Friday dismissed reports of "murder by police" and allegations of suicide in rape-murder case accused Raju. Reacting to the allegations being leveled by the family members of Raju, accused in the sensational rape-murder case, and some civil society organisations.

State Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy said the police have recorded the statements of eyewitnesses in the case. He said that the gangman of the railways had seen Raju roaming on the track. A total of seven eyewitnesses, including some farmers, saw him jumping in front of the train. The DGP also said that the loco pilot of Konark Express was also an eyewitness to the suicide.

He clarified that the eyewitnesses are not lying on this issue, they have no reason to lie. Saying this, he said that there is no need to make baseless allegations in the incident. He said that Raju had committed suicide at 8.05 am on Thursday. Train drivers noticed the incident and lodged a complaint. It is to be known that Raju, accused in the Saidabad rape-murder case, had committed suicide on the railway track. Since then the police department was being accused by some civil society organizations and his family.
