Joshua's next move was to go to Manila, but because everything happened so quickly, he was unable to withdraw any money, and when he did try to withdraw money, it did not work. He chose to hire a cab since he believed he could do so close to the hotel and expected the driver would accept cards. He was even more alarmed when he discovered it was a cash-only establishment. He felt taken advantage of by the taxi driver, who ultimately charged him three times the going rate.

He continued by stating that he did not believe Manila was a bad city to visit, but that this was only his experience and he wanted to caution others to be properly prepared while traveling anyplace in order to avoid disrupting any plans or missing out on anything.

Government of the Philippines response:

The Philippine agency in charge of regulating public transportation issued a warning against drivers of such vehicles after the incident went popular on social media. No matter if the passengers are natives or visitors, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued a formal statement stating that they do not support or tolerate any sort of fraud by the drivers on them. If any driver violates these laws, action will be taken.
