Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor who also playing the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in 'Padmavati' will be next seen in 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu'. Shahid Kapoor's 2017 release 'Rangoon' was a big box-office disaster, and the actor had all his hopes pined on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's multi-starring period avatar 'Padmavati'. However, when the film got involved in controversy throughout the nation ultimately getting indefinitely postponed, the onus has now shifted to his next project.

Shahid's next, his maiden collaboration with 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' director Shree Narayan Singh, has been in the news for a while now. The movie is already making some buzz in the B-town, but not for the right reasons.

A leading daily reported that Shahid has conveyed the makers he was not keen to work with Katrina Kaif in the film, though the female lead of the film is yet to be finalized. However, the 'Udta Punjab' star has put an end to all these rumours and termed as 'total rubbish'. The actor cleared this news on his official Twitter page. The 36-old-actor will play the role of a lawyer in the movie. The movie focuses on the issue of highly priced electricity bills which has become a common problem for the citizens. Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, the flick is slated to release on August 31, 2018.
